Shared memories…what are they exactly?

Today was one of those “hard” days with my mom. When I first saw her this morning, she was anxious, and I’m not sure she knew who I was. I helped her with breakfast, fed Smokey and set her up in the living room to watch a movie before I left for “my” day. This afternoon when I went back to CH to see her, my mom, as usual, was propelling herself through the hallway in her wheelchair. Prior to her fall and broken hip, she would make endless rounds walking through the hallways with her walker and Smokey, always close by. Most times when she sees me she is thrilled, opening her arms to me, saying there she is! Of course I just learned she says the same thing when she sees several of her caregivers, but that’s okay…
