Smokey and Janet

"I want to tell you how much I miss my mother. Bits of her are still there. I miss her most when I'm sitting across from her." Candy Crowley

I’ve learned a lot about Alzheimer’s Disease in the past few years and I continue to learn every day.  I learn from the books I’m reading, through interactions with my mom and other residents, and also from Smokey.  He is a silent and constant presence at Conifer House.  Smokey is nonjudgmental, caring and patient (unless he is hungry!).  My mom is a little less aware of him now, but Smokey is usually not far from her side.

My sister and several friends have encouraged me to start a blog for Smokey, so here it is.  I thought a little information about Alzheimer’s and what I’ve learned along the way would be a nice addition.  Thanks for reading!
